So close

We are so close to being done. And I am so close to getting on a plane. I’ve got a lot of the packing done, which, considering we worked the whole weekend, I’m pretty proud of. Given I also went to see the new Hunger Games film and got taken out for a lovely dinner, it’s been a very good few days even with the workload!

Sadly my landlord has some friends round to watch the football tonight. One of whom has possibly the loudest voice in all the world…

7 days

That is how long it is before I get to start relaxing properly for the first time in two months. In one week I will be on a plane, drinking a well earned glass of wine, flying towards Las Vegas for 6 days of fun, taking in the sights of the Strip, and Zion National Park.

Can’t wait.

In the meantime, there is a lot to do, but we are getting there. The end is in sight.

Wildlife

I saw a RACCOON on my drive through JP tonight! An actual live one dashing across the road! AND because I was in the car it couldn’t actually get near me…which was nice.

Sadly I was getting home at 11pm, but let’s not dwell on that…

Snow

Well, it’s official. Winter is on the way. We had several firsts today heralding the end of Fall and the start of “proper” winter…

1.). The first snow flurries, resulting in…

2.). Everyone in Greater Boston forgetting how to drive (this will be back to what passes for “normal” by the next lot of snow, but the first lot tends to send everyone into a panic), making a horrible morning commute, and leading to me being parked about as far from my client building as is possible, which in turn led to…

3.). The first “mad dash” to get to the car after work before my fingers and feet froze off. The gigantic coat will be coming out very soon…

However, tomorrow it is, apparently, due to start warming up again for a bit. Lets hang onto the warmth for as long as possible, please, I am not looking forward to blizzard season this time…

Burning the candle at both ends

We are nearly at Thanksgiving. Ergo we are two weeks from sign off. Ergo things are a tough insane and I am leaving work at 10.40pm… Not as bad as some days, but tiring.

Hanging in there, though, and I’ll be coming up with fun things to blog about in less than a month! For now I’m managing the work, and still finding time for fun as well, which is a big achievement…

Urgh

Again, why is it on the late nights, when I have loads of stuff to carry, that there is no parking on my street?

Anyway, my giant duvet coat has arrived, and I am sorted for winter. It’s huge, and possibly the least sexy thing I have ever seen when it’s all done up. However, it is an extra small and I can fit about seventeen layers under it, so I must see the positives. And it will keep me toasty in the snow, thank goodness.

Bring on another two workdays…

1,200

That is the number of spam comments I deleted from this blog last night.  I stop keeping track for a few days and it all goes MENTAL…

Anyway, work is still mad all around, but we are all hanging in there.  I am still maintaining that I am never ever drinking again, however it was pointed out to me this evening that I am going to Las Vegas in under a month, so had probably better start practising to increase my tolerance and avoid significant liver damage…  I’m sure it won’t be that bad (right?)…

Anyway, just a short post tonight – I’m still at work and sneakily posting between projects.  It’s 9.20pm and I needed a brain break before I finish off a review of accruals.  All good fun.  No, seriously, it’s actually good fun.  Not nearly as much fun as the goodwill I’m looking at tomorrow, but still fun.  I really need to get out more…

Oh, and I’m publically sending a huge hug across the Atlantic.  The recipient knows who she is.  Just saying.

8 Things learned in a weekend

1.) Margaritas are evil.

2.) Margaritas are evil.

3.) Margaritas are evil.

4.) Going to the gym does not necessarily cure a hangover.

5.) Nor does going to brunch.

6.) …Or doing laundry.

7.) 9 hours of sleep following a day without switching on your work computer, however, tends to do the trick, although you may find yourself with a hint of the Monday blues, in which case…

8.) Watching 5 grown men playing “Under The Sea” on bottles can take the edge off even a severe case of the Mondays…

Off to bed I go…
